Christmas Help

For people who have fallen into hard times, Christmas is a tough time of year. The good news is that there are many organizations in the Kansas City Metro area that are dedicated to helping struggling parents and giving children Christmas gifts.

You can often find Christmas stores at churches and other nonprofit organizations. You can also apply for Adopt a Family programs.

Angel Tree - Adopt an Angel Program

JCPenney and The Salvation Army have joined force and launched the Largest Online Angel Giving Tree Program. From the beginning of November until December 14, for the first-time ever, customers can adopt and shop online for Angels at jcp.com/angel.

Metropolitan Lutheran Ministry Christmas Store

Every year MLM volunteers make Christmas possible for hundreds of Kansas City families. Working throughout the year, money is raised through special events to purchase gifts, corporate contributions are sought, donations are received.

Metropolitan Lutheran Ministry's Christmas Stores provided gifts, bibles, blankets and meals to nearly 1200 families, making this program the second largest gift giving program in the greater Kansas City metropolitan area.

Salvation Army & KUDL ADOPT-A-FAMILY program

You can apply to be adopted in the KUDL ADOPT-A-FAMILY program. You will be receiving gifts as well as gift cards for a family Christmas meal. All of the families served by this program have to apply for and qualify for assistance through one of five area Salvation Army locations or The Guadalupe Center.

Toys for Tots

The Toys for Tots Program is run by the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve. The mission of the Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted. To obtain toys for your children or for someone else's children, you need to fill out an application form and provide your name, phone number and address. You will also provide the ages and gender of your children and request that Christmas toys be provided for them. The Toys for Tots Coordinator will contact you.
